Giants' Masahiro Tanaka threw 46 pitches in the bullpen on the second day of joint voluntary training. Catcher Yamase commented, "He had an aura about him. It was a little scary."

On the 29th, Giants pitcher Masahiro Tanaka (36) entered the bullpen on the second day of the joint voluntary training for key players being held in Miyazaki City, throwing a total of 46 pitches, including breaking balls, while standing and with the catcher sitting.

Masahiro Tanaka was the first pitcher to warm up his shoulders by playing catch. He then went straight into the bullpen and threw 30 pitches, including a curveball, while standing. After that, he had the catcher sit down and threw 16 pitches, mixing in a slider, two-seam fastball, splitter and other breaking balls.

"I was able to pitch better than I thought I would. I think it was good," said Masahiro Tanaka. Although he pitched all from a set position, he said, "That (balance) is the most important thing, so I'll always be conscious of that and try to pitch with good balance."

Yamase, who received the ball midway through the inning, commented, "He had an aura about him standing on the mound. I was really nervous," and laughed, saying, "I was a little scared" of his sharp gaze on the mound.

Although he is still in the process of adjusting his pitches, he could not hide his surprise, saying, "He has incredible control. He throws the fork low, and the slider and two-seam fastball on target. He doesn't put out a lot of power, but I think his control is extremely good."
