Shohei Ohtani of the Dodgers, playing as the leadoff hitter and designated hitter, hit a solo home run off of left-hander Boyd in the sixth inning when the team was trailing by two runs. This was his first home run since the game against the Diamondbacks on August 31st in September, and his second 100 RBI in three years. He is in the lead in the race for the National League home run title, eight ahead of second-place Ozuna (Braves).

In his first at-bat, Otani hit a big 120-meter fly ball to center field, but it lost speed in front of the fence. In his third at-bat, he couldn't stop a slider that was low and on the outside corner, and struck out swinging.

On the 4th, Otani was hitless in 4 at-bats against the Angels. In his first two games at his former team's Angel Stadium since the transfer, he excited the opposing team's home ground with a tying triple in the first game, but was unable to create a good opportunity in the second game. There was no game on the 5th, the day before, so it was a rest day. He came into the game recharged and hit a spectacular home run, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
