Former jockey Olivier Perrier (52) from France, who retired in April last year, visited Ritto Training Center on the 26th with fellow Frenchman Lemaire. This is his first visit to Japan in 13 years since he rode Solemya (13th place) in the 2012 Japan Cup. "I wanted to meet Lemaire, and I also wanted to see the cherry blossoms. I always come here in the winter on a short-term license, so I've never seen them," he said, cheering on his junior from his home country while looking forward to the seasonal scenery of Japan.
He plans to stay for about 10 days and renew old friendships, saying, "I'm going to meet Mr. Fujisawa (Kazuo) and go to Chukyo to watch the horse racing." He is currently a horse owner and revealed his new ambition, saying, "I currently own five horses. The race I want to win is the Arc de Triomphe!"
He also said, "Fans want to know what goes on behind the scenes at horse racing, so I would like to introduce that to them," and is eager to disseminate information through his Instagram (@olijock) and other channels.
