The dinner party was planned for teammates by pitcher Shohei Ohtani, along with pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Roki Sasaki. Prior information had revealed that a chef would be invited to serve sushi and yakitori, but a video of a tuna dissection show was also posted.

Otani also released a group photo of the chefs, staff, and players involved in the dinner party.
